Meet Miyako – Your Experienced Japanese Tutor

With over 10 years of teaching experience in Australia, Miyako is a highly skilled and passionate Japanese language teacher. Having taught at the University of Wollongong and at local primary and high schools across the Illawarra region, Miyako specialises in HSC Japanese Continuers and Extension, providing students with the tools they need to succeed. She is also an experienced English teacher at Japanese junior high schools. As a syllabus writer for the NSW School of Languages, she contributed to developing both the Japanese HSC and Preliminary courses.


In 2022, Miyako completed her PhD, focusing on Japanese heritage maintenance of Japanese-Australian intermarriage families, allowing for a greater exploration of cultural identity and language maintenance in bilingual families.
Her qualifications include two Master’s degrees in Education (TESOL and Literacy), a Diploma in Modern Languages (Japanese), a Graduate Diploma in Education (Primary K-6), and a Bachelor of Arts in Education.


As a dedicated and compassionate teacher, Miyako is committed to fostering a supportive learning environment, answering questions, and providing personalised guidance to help her students thrive.
